Meet the team

Andrew Walters

RiverCare and BeachCare Programme Manager

"It's been a real pleasure to work with so many dedicated and passionate volunteers and to support them in making a big difference to our region’s waterways. As a keen canoeist and dinghy sailor, spending time on our rivers and estuaries allows me to experience the incredible water habitats we have in the Eastern region but it also reminds me how fragile they are and the work we can all do to save them’"

Fiona McKenna

RiverCare and BeachCare PROGRAMME OFFiceR

"I am so proud to be part of this excellent project and am honoured to be working with such a lovely network of dedicated volunteers. I am absolutely passionate about wildlife and love working with people who share this passion. I also passionately hate litter and am proud to be part of the Litter Army tackling it. Anyone who gives up their time to pick up other people's litter is a hero in my book and I will do everything I can to support them"

David Wallace

RiverCare and BeachCare PROGRAMME OFFICER

"Our volunteers are inspirational in looking after the areas where they live by picking up litter and it is great to see the difference they make. Removing litter from our beaches and waterways is so important and benefits us all. I love being part of the team that educates communities by helping to restore habitats and by showing off the fantastic wildlife we have on our doorsteps"

Lottie Williams

RiverCare and BeachCare PROGRAMME OFFICER

"As the newest member of the RiverCare and BeachCare team I’m looking forward to taking on a different challenge and building upon the fantastic work already being done. I’ve always enjoyed being outdoors, whether walking the dog locally, or exploring the Welsh countryside where I grew up. I’m passionate about protecting our fragile environment and I hope to carry that enthusiasm into my work."

Andrew Walters: Andrew is the RiverCare & BeachCare Programme Manager and the project’s founder. Andrew led the very first RiverCare clean up with eight volunteers in Cambridge. Watching the project grow over the years has been an inspiration to him.

Fiona McKenna: Fiona is our Programme Officer for RiverCare and BeachCare based in Lincolnshire. Fiona joins us from the Rivers Trust and has a variety of experience in the wildlife conservation sector. Fiona’s previous experience includes running events and fundraising on nature reserves as well as more practical hands on wildlife surveying, invasive non-native species eradication and habitat management. This all stands her in good stead for the role of Programme Officer on our diverse project.

David Wallace: David is our Programme Officer for RiverCare and BeachCare based in Essex. David joins us from Floramedia with a background in horticulture and conservation. David has lived in the United Kingdom and Bermuda where he worked with National Trust volunteers and participated in marine surveys and beach clean programmes. He has experience with a broad range of conservation projects and helped to restore habitats after flood and hurricane damage. He also set up a nursery to propagate native and endemic plants as part of a reforestation plan.

Lottie Williams: Lottie is our RiverCare and BeachCare Programme Officer. She is the newest member of the team and will be setting up BeachCare projects in Norfolk and Suffolk and supporting the Rivercare Volunteer groups across the central part of the Anglian region.
